CALCULATOR
Calculate the exact gun elevation for any target distance and powder-charge setting in IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator.
AVAILABLE SOLUTIONS
USE THE FIRING SOLUTION
Once you have the required elevation, select the shell for the target and transfer the result to the gun controls.
HOW ELEVATION IS CALCULATED
Each powder charge covers a five-kilometre step: charge 1 reaches 5 km, charge 2 reaches 10 km, and so on up to 30 km with six charges. The selected range is mapped linearly from 0° at zero distance to 60° at that charge's maximum distance.
For example, a target at 12.36 km with three powder charges requires 49.44° of gun elevation. The same distance can be fired with more charges at a lower elevation, provided the chosen charge can reach the target.
HOW FLIGHT TIME IS CALCULATED
Shell flight time is the target distance divided by the shell speed for the selected powder charge. Every shell currently has the same base speed of 0.7 km per second. Powder charges apply a smooth speed multiplier ranging from 0.3 with one charge to 1.0 with six charges.
QUICK CALCULATION BY CHARGE
For a faster manual calculation, divide the target distance by the number shown for the selected charge.
For example, a target at 12.36 km has an estimated flight time of 32.32 seconds with three powder charges, or 17.66 seconds with six. This is the predicted time in flight and does not include the brief delay before the gun launches the shell.
